Backslide 04:13
i’m trying to fathom how we claim to have progressed become more civil and kind when rights are stripped from the wronged proving time and again that justice is blind tens, hundreds, or thousands of years don’t seem to matter that much today when a man is still measured and assigned his worth by the skin in which he is born i’m trying to relate in a place i don’t feel a part more than willing to enact change - once it appeared so black and white now I see how totally strange it all is… tens, hundreds, or millions of lives aren’t given their equal say when a woman is still measured and assigned her worth by the skin in which she is born all these millions and billions of tears don’t seem to matter that much these days when we are all still measured and assigned our worth by the skin in which we are born honey-tongued right to your face and poison behind your back they’ll do anything to win the race a bitter pill stuck inside your throat and bile in your gut stand your ground or be erased

so weighted - so held down a pain to deep to discuss aloud the dust had hardly settled ash and paper and bone carried aloft - the late summer breeze - like so many letters home the guilt so heavy - its depth uncharted ashamed to speak of what actually happened but we'd relive the days the sound and sail and sun these letters from the skipper sent with the hope - of one final run I STOOD AT THE BOW AND WATCHED MY CITY RECEDE IN THAT MOMENT THE WHEEL WAS PASSED BUT IN HIS TIME OF NEED I LEFT HIM IN THE HOLE OF SORROW TO FEND ALONE i was never contented at the stern watching the wake dissolve i will pilot until my dying day STANDING AT THE BOW WATCHING MY CITY RECEDE JUST A MOMENT - AND MY CHANCE HAD PASSED IN HIS TIME OF DEEPEST NEED LEFT DOWN IN A HOLE HIS GREATEST SORROW TIME HE’D SPEND ALONE CAPTAIN -MY CAPTAIN, O CAPTAIN -MY CAPTAIN, O

Years ago and younger days Fields of green and points of light I wouldn’t trade what I have now For clarity then, or second-sight - We search for renewal and release Cliches of time and ticking clocks Seconds slip as grains of sand Trying to slow the inevitable crash Pushing back with worthless hands - We wait for renewal and release No running away or showing up late This illness can’t be cured Call it fact or call it fate The outcome is assured The brightly burning beauty Can only blaze so long… We had these grand plans Pipe dreams without perspective With wisdom comes a sobering fact The end is untold and not selective - We hope for renewal and release Crossing the border The edge where night begins The beginning of the end - Watershed…

Lorelei 04:22
sailing south from rotterdam with a cargo for mannheim they fought the wind and downstream flow on the waters of the rhine in cologne to stay the night the stories were passed around luckless tales of men that were lost- their end was borne in the sound the waters hold the secret and wash the truth away LORELEI- HER MYTH WAS ON THE MINDS OF THOSE WHO PASSED BELOW THE CLIFFS THAT FRAMED THE RIVER RHINE LORELEI- SHE WAS CASTING OUT HER SPELL CALLING WORSHIPPERS TO HER FEET TO DRIVE THEM ALL TO HELL one last stop in koblenz the boatmen drank to forget the look of fear was in their eyes they had to make the passage yet the waters share with no one the answers they retain mannheim was a day away through the gorge and slate mountains off the cliffs her call was resounding and there the journey did end LORELEI- SHE STOLE MY SON FROM ME DASHED HIS SHIP IN THE MISTY NIGHT WASHED HIS SOUL OUT TO SEA LORELEI- THE FURY WAS HER SONG MAGIC VEILED A DEADLY HYMN THE STRONGEST MEN WEREN'T SO STRONG

this vibration this resonance it’s enough to get the matter in motion enough to make the moment sustain too late when it’s ended to do all you intended need to find the fire get on with the plan a burst of light an image burned it’s enough to find your way in the darkness enough to see enough to explain too much talking typing not enough living dying need to find the focus distractions be damned too late when it’s ended to do all you intended need to find the fire get on with the plan brought into focus economy of motion - time doesn’t wait feed back from the signal - time doesn’t care to fall in love to lose control it’s enough to feed this flirtation with madness enough to hope some sanity remains
